December 18, 2009

Today, i started my new sytrus project. The first thing i did was make a sound in sytrus that is halfway between a sine wave and a saw wave (i thought the sine wave by itself was to mellow and the saw wave was to harsh). Next, i edited the sound envelope in operator 1 so it has a gradual decline to a sustained end loop, then it has a sharp fade in sound when the note is released. After that, i added some echo and reverb to give a sort of spacey sound

Sytrus Project

Hey guys, this is my new sytrus project. It uses a sine and saw wave which i edited to my liking (changing volume envelopes here and adding delay and reverb there). I put the sine wave into the riff machine to get the main melody for the A patterns, then wrote the B pattern by myself with the saw wave. After that, i added bass, a rythm part, and drums and there my new song! Enjoy.

Decmber 14, 2009

Today, i experimented with perfecting my saw wave. I added a delay to it and changed the LFO on the volume to make a pulsating kind of sound. After i made that i came up with a riff of my own (with no help from the riff machine) and made that my B secion.

December 8, 2009

i essentialy got nothing done today. i could not find a riff machine pattern that i liked and after a while of tinkering i realized that one of my sounds got changed and the only way to get it back was to clsoe the project and revert back to my original. ugh...

December 4, 2009

today, i experimented with alterations to my sine wave sound and came up with something that i think will work well. I threw it into the riff machine and used the trow dice option to try to come up with something good but i havent found anything yet.

Vocodex project

hey guys, this is my project using a vocoded voice in the the vocodex on FL studio 9. I used the machine 2 option in the vocodex for the voice, and based the song off the pitch the voice is in in the vocodex. I have a pretty simple bass line and some riffs that were made with the chop tool and by me. The drum loop is a jazz loop the i edited slightly to make it fit the song better. enjoy!

November 19, 2009

My project is finally starting to come together like I wanted it to. I transposed the 2 main riffs, bass part, and vocal part up a note today and made some cool new vocal parts that fit well with the song. I'm thinknig that the project will be done by the end of next class because all I really have to do is write an ending and I already have an idea for that. Oh, and I got rid of the clicking sounds my song was making today, which is a plus...

November 16, 2009

Today in class, I continued to work on my vocodex project. I workerd out that boringness problem by adding a new drum beat and a new melody that alternates with the old one. I also decided that I'm going to transpose the voice, riffs, and bass part to give the overall song allitle more depth. However, I didn't quite get to that this class because I was having problems trying to transpose the voice and will probably work it out next time.

November 12, 2009

Today in music tech, i worked on creating a background part for my vocodex project. I seem to be having some trouble with finding things that fit well with the vocal part. I think i got a main riff, drums, and bass line down pretty well, but i still need to find something that will jazz it up a bit. It just seems kind of dull...

Project 4- The Autogun of sweetness

Hey guys, this is my fourth loop for music tech. In this one i used a new feature in FL studio 9 called the autogun. it has all different synth sounds in, saving you time and effort to make a cool synth sound. I used the autogun to make the first riff you hear in the song, then added a panning modulation clip to it to give it a little more technoy feel. Then i added a simple drum loop and bass line (which uses the same notes as the autogun riff so i think it might be kind of hard to hear). Next, i chopped a guitar sound to make that first faded in loop and changed the simple drum beat that i made to one from the FPC. The next loop that kind of sounds like somebody whistleing is another sound from the autogun. Towards the end, i wrote another riff using that whislte sound and put the first autogun riff underneath it. I transposed each of those riff up one and that alterantes a few times, each time a new instrument comes back into the mix starting with bass, then the simple drum beat that i made, then finaaly the FPC drum beat. The song ends with that fade in, chopped guitar sound (also transposed up one and a crash symbol hit to end it off. I hoped you noticed that this loop is a bit longer than my others because i really tried to finished my ideas and draw them out so you can get the full feel of what i was going for. As for the autogun, i think it is a pretty cool tool to use when you are in a hurry and need a sweet synth sound, but you dont have as much control over the sound as you do in something like the Simsynth plugin. Well, enjoy the loop!!

Project 3- The Vocoder

Hey guys, this is my thrid project for music tech. In this project, i experimented with the vocoder plugin in the mixer. The idea of the vocoder is that one sound is modidified by another sound. In this case, i used an FPC drum loop as my modulator (the sound being modified) and the simsynth as my carrier (the sound that modulates the other sound). Now, i ran into quite a problem with the project because the tutorial i was watching to learn how to do use the vocoder was using an older version of FL studio and there was a section where you had to run both of the sounds into their own mixer tracks and then run both of those tracks into another mixer track. The way the guy in the video did it was he clicked on the track he wanted to run into the other track, clicked on a pull down menu at the bottom, and selected the track he wanted to run it into. However, wen i tried this, my pull down menu did not have different tracks availible. Problem!! I messed around with this for days until i finally got the idea to look this up on line, and by piecing together info from a few different tutorials, i was able to run the two tracks into the one track. As it turns out, there is a much simpler way to do this, but hey, u live and learn right? What i did was i ran the sound into separate mixer track and then into the one track (that one track holds the vocoder by the way) by making it so the individual tracks that i wanted ran only into the vocoder track instead of the master track. As it turns out, u can just run the sounds straight into the vocoder track from the step sequencer. Duh... anyway, the loop u hear at the begining is the vocoded loop, and the drum loop in the backround is the same drum loop i vocoded with the simsynth sound because i thought that it would fit the best. Enjoy!!

Project 2

hey guys, this is my second project for music tech. This project was based around using the FPC, the Chop tool, and the Transpose tool. I started off with a drum beat from the FPC called Fpc Ambient groove 01. Next i added a simple bass line using the Boo Bass. Then, I added a guitar riff which i made using the chop tool with the pattern superstition. AFter that riff, the drums switch to a new FPC loop and another guitar part starts which was again made using the chop tool with that same pattern. Then in the liitle space that follows another new FPC loop starts and a new guitar riff starts, but this one was made from the first guitar loop but transposed up an octave. And the little end bit is just a crash symbol and bass. One thing i found hard about this was trying to find a good guitar riff using the chop tool because it kept coming out in ways that i didnt like, for example, the notes were too short or there were too few notes. Other than that, i really didnt have any other problems. Enjoy!!

Project 1

Hey guys, this is the first project for music tech that i made, which is a drum loop. Its made up of 3 individual loops, 2 fills, and an end loop. I think that this project is a mix between the regular, old school, rock/pop drum sounds and a rap/dance kind of beat. All the loops and fills (except the last one) have a kick drum to keep the beat, which is the default kick drum sound. The first loop has tamborine, high hat (which is the default one), a snare drum, and the kick drum of course. The fill after that uses the shaker, a few tom hits, and a crash symbol. The next loop uses a ride symbol, shaker, and snare. The next fill goes back to the tamborine and high hat, but also keeps the crash symbol and toms. The last loop uses hand claps, shaker, crash symbol, and high hat. Then, last but not least, the ending loop is a simple vibra slap and wind chimes. Enjoy!!

Test

hi, this is a test
